An Introduction to Chemistry
Chemistry First
eBook for iPad and Android
Because the file for the whole text
would be huge, and because most classes only cover selected
chapters, I have separated the iBook into chapters.
The ability
to change
the font
size for an
iBook
creates some
layout
problems for
a book of
this
complexity.
For this
reason, it
is best to
view the
book in the
smallest
font size
that you are
comfortable
reading.
There may be
times that
you want to
change the
font size to
more easily
view certain
features.

information about downloading these files for Android devices.

Kindle
files.
For
iPad:
Follow these steps to download chapter files to
your computer and
iPad.
If you click
on one of
the
following
links while
viewing this
page on your
iPad, you
should be
asked
whether you
want to open
the file in
iBooks. If
you say yes,
the chapter
should
appear on
your
bookshelf.
If you use a
computer and
iTunes to
organize
your music
and books,
follow these
steps.
While
viewing this
page on your
computer, click on the link
below for the chapter
you want. You will be given the opportunity to either save the book file or open it in iTunes.
Opening it
in iTunes
adds the
file
directly to
your iTunes
Library.
If you save
the file, you can either drag
it onto the iTunes icon on your
desktop, or you can open iTunes and
select File and Add File to Library...
to add the file to iTunes.
Please let me know if there are problems
downloading, installing, or viewing the iBook chapters.

For
Android:
There are
different
procedures
for adding
books to
different
Android
devices and
for
different
eBook
readers.
If you are
viewing this
page on your
Android
device, when
you click on
one of the
links above,
you will
probably be
asked which
program to
open the
file in. One
of the
possibilities
should allow
you to open
the eBook
chapter. For
example, on
my Acer
tablet, the
file opens
in OverDrive
Media
Console.
The
instructions
below are
for
downloading
the files to
your
computer and
adding them
to the Nook
for Android
App on your
tablet or
phone.
When you click on the link for the chapter
you want, you will be given the opportunity to save the book
file. Save it to somewhere that you can find it easily. The file
will have an
.epub
extension on
the end of
the file
name.
If
you have not
already done
so, install the NOOK for Android App on
your Android device.
Connect your
device to your computer to access the folder structure.
Open the Nook folder
on your
tablet or
phone.
Drag the
.epub file into the
My Documents
folder under
the NOOK folder.
Disconnect your device from your computer.
Open NOOK for Android app.
In the library, filter by "My Files".
You should be then able to open and read any
of your files.
The chapters will
look better if you select All Settings from the NOOK menu, and
check Publisher Defaults.
When you have added the file to your
device, you can then delete it from your computer.
Please let me know if there are problems
downloading, installing, or viewing the eBook chapters.
When you click on one of the links below, you
may be asked which program to open the file in and the
default will probably be Kindle. If it is not, click the Browse
button to find Kindle. Click OK to download the file.
If you cannot open the file directly on your
Kindle or into your Kindle App, follow the instructions below for downloading the
files and adding them to the Kindle or Kindle App.
When you click on the link below for the chapter
you want, you will be given the opportunity to save the chapter
file. Save it to somewhere that you can find it easily. The file
will have an .mobi extension on the end of the file name.
Connect your
device to your computer with a USB cable to access the folder structure.
Drag the .mobi file into either the "documents"
folder under the Kindle drive for Kindles or into the Kindle folder itself
for a tablet device or phone.
The chapter you downloaded should then be found in
your Kindle library.

downloading, installing, or viewing the eBook chapters.
